​SME Workshop

This half-day workshop was organised by Digital Catapult and Jacobs involving the NVEC partners and eight selected SMEs. The discussions were focussed on exploring the role that SMEs and their cutting-edge technology solutions could play in addressing key challenges of the nuclear sector in association with the NVEC programme. Opportunities for future collaboration were identified.

Digital Catapult undertook an SME outreach activity and with NVEC partners shortlisted relevant SMEs covering a range of technology areas including Artificial Intelligence, Distributed Ledger Technologies, Internet of Things and Immersive Technologies to take part in the workshop.

Overview

Digital innovation and transformation is high on the agenda across many organisations and sectors. The current Nuclear Innovation Programme, funded through BEIS, highlights the urgent need to accelerate the development of digital frameworks if we are to deliver the scale of ambition around competitiveness and efficiency. The creation and delivery of integrated digital frameworks for industrial sectors raises issues beyond the technological requirements and requires careful consideration around governance and stewardship of such national assets.

We’d like to invite you to help shape the thinking around delivery and further development of national digital infrastructures, by joining us as a panel member at the Thought Leadership Roundtable.

Overview

The core NVEC project team held an engagement day with BEIS and NIRO at the Royal Academy in London. The event highlighted both phase 2 progress and the benefits of a collaborative nuclear virtual environment. BEIS and NIRO attendees had the opportunity to meet the project team, ask questions and learn more about the project; constructive discussions took place on both the challenges encountered and the opportunities for the project.

Overview
